Kingsville, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Sarita checkpoint on U.S. Highway 77 seized more than 200 pounds of cocaine Monday.

The seizure occurred during an inspection as a recreational vehicle attempted to travel through the Sarita checkpoint. A K-9 team operating in conjunction with the primary agent alerted to the presence of illicit contraband. A secondary inspection revealed the contraband concealed within a wall of the vehicle.

The seized cocaine is valued at more than $7.2 million.kingsville02242010

The sheriffs who stand on the front line in Arizona's fight against illegal immigration are being put in a position of spending taxpayer dollars on mounting a legal defense - instead of buying the equipment and weapons they need to keep up with the firepower of the drug cartels.
